What's going on everyone? This is a Gerard with Mardocigars.com. In this week's episode, we're going to share the original story on how Mardocigars.com started. There is two parts to this original story. We have the brick and mortar story and we have the online story. Mardo Cigar started out in San Juan Capistrano in 1994. It was originally called Prestige and was a chocolate store. My dad did have a countertop humidor with some cigars in there, and he started seeing that customers were coming just for the cigars and not buying chocolate. Therefore, he became a full-blown tobacco shop and that's how it started. And then, there was the rise and the boom of the cigar demand within that era. Then he opened a few more stores and I joined forces with him and started working with him but then I had a aspiration to become a fire fighter. And when I started pursuing that, he liquidated all but one store in Laguna Niguel, California, and he moved to Florida to pursue his dream of being closer to the mecca of cigars in the United States.

And then, I pursued my firefighting gig and I kept managing this store over here. And unfortunately, he passed away a few years back. And when that happened, I was obviously upset due to the natural happenings of life, but I was looking to liquidate and get out of the business, and it just didn't seem to fit and find a right buyer. And that's when I approached my best friend, Neil Garcia, and we actually joined forces and we started looking on seeing what we can do online. We got ourselves a 400 square foot little office and started building the content on the website. And as it became more and more robust, we had to graduate to a much bigger platform and that has been very, very instrumental in our success. Social media has helped a lot and, thus, from the 400 square foot office, we have now a 3,500 square foot office with a warehouse and this beautiful lounge where we make the videos and a staff that is very, very helpful.

We continue to bring to you guys all the boutique stuff and also manufacturing our own cigars, excuse me, which we're doing very, very well.
