Cigar Guide - Must Have Every Day Carry for a Cigar Aficionado!

11th Jan 2021

Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo. I'm Gerard. And today I'm going to share with you my personal everyday carry case. You can feel free to mimic it so therefore you're prepared for any occasion that may arise. But before I get going, I need you to click on that subscribe button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes of Mondays with Mardo.

All right. In front of me, I have my own personal case. This is from Xikar. This is a 60 count cigar carrying case. It's made out of plastic. It does have a very good strong seal to it. It does have the little seal on the edge of the lid so therefore when you close it, you can snap it in. You can feel that seal on there. It also has this little release valve. So therefore, if you do go on an airplane and since the pressure build up before you open it, you have to unscrew this and let the pressure out because you won't be able to open it.

One of the first things that I did do on this unit is take out all the little tray foam inserts. The reason why I did that is because I could fit a whole lot more than 60 cigars in it when I take all these trays out. All this is unused space so that's why I took them out. And this is in place of cigars. So I took that out and I'm going to show you guys what I did to it and what I carry. And you guys can mimic it if you like.

I left the foam, one tray only on the bottom and then one all the way at the top of the lid so therefore this can give it some kind of cushion if things do rattle a little bit, because it's not all the way full, it'll give it some protection. But as you can see on the inside of it, I have a whole sorts of different kinds of stuff in there. But it works for me. Not the reason why I like it this way is I can store my butane. So one of the things that sucks is when your lighter runs out of butane, you don't have one with you, you can't use your lighter. So therefore you have to ask somebody or look for something. So this is big enough for me not to only store my cigars, but also put my butane bottle in there. So that's in there as well.

And then obviously a lighter is in there. And there's so much room in here, I can store multiple lighters. So I have that going for myself. Another thing I do, a perfect draw, if I ever have a cigar that it's clogged or it's a tight draw, I can always use it to poke out the knot and also it can be used so therefore I can definitely let out all the butane and therefore I can fill that back up. So, I mean, I'm sticking my tongue out because it's so much fun and I'm ready for any occasion.

Another thing I have in there is my favorite cigar cutter, which is the SV-Cut. The reason why I liked this by Colibri is it has a deep V cut. That's my favorite cut. And also it does have a guillotine cut there as well. So these run about $75. This case by the is around $80. You can find him on basically any online resource out there that's available. I do use humidification units. I just like to use the Boveda because it's very, very simple. I use the 69% Boveda packs. I use about three of them, depending on how many cigars I have in here. So that's what I use to humidify it. And then to check my humidity, I do have a hygrometer. It shows the temperature in there also shows the percentage of humidity.

Now, when it comes to storage of cigars, I can store these things in here in any way I want. I can put them in there as single sticks. I have so much room. I have a bundle of 10 in here. It's still in its original packaging. I have cigars in here that are in a Ziploc bag and it does have a Boveda pack in there. So therefore I just got to make sure it's 69% so I'm good to go. I even have these little tiny three packs in here. I have so much room in here that I really wanted share with you guys in this video. It's a really cool everyday carry case. Like I said, you can definitely mimic this.

So therefore, if you're wondering, how should I store my cigars? What cigars should I take with me? I don't know sure if I want to give my good cigars to my friends. Well, in a case like this, you can put your cheapy cigars in it that you want to hand out to people. You can put your very good cigars in here. If you want to compartmentalize, you could always have some if the cigars are special to you inside a Ziploc bag like this. So you can definitely be able to differentiate what's from what. And then when you close it.

And the cool thing about this is that if it is in my car in the backseat, if it slides or falls on the floorboard or anything like that, this thing is pretty sturdy. So therefore it's going to protect everything in there. So let me know in the comments what you use as an everyday carry case, what accessories you have in there. Other than that, I'll see you guys next week. But remember before I get going, I need you to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook and remember to tell your friends to subscribe to our YouTube channel. See you guys. Bye.
