13th Feb 2023

Hi, welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mohan. I'm Gerard, and this week we're going to talk about how to tell if you're smoking a good cigar. But before I get going, I need you to click on the subscribe button. Click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays with Mardos. All right, so the topic is how to tell If you're smoking a good cigar. What should you be looking for? Is it just taste? Well, you better bet your toot toot, but yeah, absolutely. I think taste is one of the first things that I look for when I'm smoking a new cigar that I've never tried before. That's the first thing that I'm going to focus on and concentrate on. What does it taste like? Am I going to stay loyal to the cigar? I don't like the taste and the beginning.

It all depends. If it's really, really nasty and it's really burning hot and it's charred and it's just really bad, I'm not going to commit to it. I'm sorry. You guys should have done a better job, is what my mind says. I have done that many, many times where in the first third of a cigar, it just doesn't taste good. I'm like, "I'm not going to give this any more of a chance nor my time." I just throw it away and I start on a new cigar that I know it that I like. All right, so let's say I like the cigar. It's tasting pretty good. It's got my interest. Second, what I look for is it's performance basically. I'm not going to sit there and dissect it inch by inch and look at it and go into it like this and scratch my head. Basically, I'm just going to be freely smoking a cigar and enjoy it.

Now, if it starts ashing all over my clothes and things of that nature, I'm going to be like, "Huh, what's going on? Is it me? Is it windy? Is it the environment or is it the cigar?" So therefore, I'll keep smoking. If it keeps doing that, then I realize, man, it's very flaky. So I'm like, "Is this cigar a long filter or short filter?" Then I start asking myself those kind of questions. I do remember one time I was smoking a cigar. It was the Camacho Liberty, I believe their first release was like 2009 or 2010, something like that. And I was smoking that cigar. My dad gave it to me, rest in peace. And within the first third, I was in the wow factor. As a matter of fact, it was so wild that we are at the tail end of 2022, and I still remember that cigar when I was looking at it.

The burn of the ash was just so solid, and then the burn line, it had a little swell to it, and the wrapper just was hairy and it was just beautiful. And I was looking at it, I was like, "Man, this cigar is amazing, just the way it was performing." You know what I mean? Therefore, I definitely bought boxes of that cigar and it never tasted again the same, you end up chasing the dragon. At least that's the way it is for me. The first time is always the best time, and you try to repeat that again and again and again. It gets very close, but it's never like the first time. You know what I mean? That to me was a very good cigar. That's how I determined was that a good cigar? Now, first off, yes, taste number two, how does it perform? And that's basically it. To go further into that is just, I don't know, not really necessary for me. I hope you like this video. Let me know in the comments how you judge if it's a good cigar. I'll see you guys next week.
