Hello, and welcome to another episode of Monday's with Mardo's. In this week's episode, we're going to get into a series of boutique cigars that you have to try. Episode 1

Our first episode on a series of boutique brands you have to try, we're going to talk about Viaje. Viaje is a mastermind when it comes to boutiques. These guys come up with cigars throughout the year, sometimes quarterly, sometimes every single, two months, and every year there's a different version of everything that they release. They have done a tremendous job, I love their product. They have things that come out of Honduras, they have things that come out of Nicaragua.

Viaje Cookie Experiment

In this episode, we're going to talk about the cookie experiment, and this is a totally fun experiment with cigars that I've never, ever been introduced to. The cookie experiment is basically off the cookie that's called the half and half, or is called also a half moon, and it's best known as black and white. It's a flat cookie that's round in shape, and half of it is a chocolate frosting and the other half is it vanilla frosting. So when you take a bite, you get the best of both worlds, I guess.

In the cigar side of it, what Viaje did is they came out with the cigar called the Black and White Experiment. And what it is is there is a jar of 24 cigars that has a Maduro wrapper. These are San Andres Maduro wrappers, and they're made out at Raices in Honduras factory. The other jar is a Connecticut, which is an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, and there's 24 in there. So what we've done here at Mardo Cigars, we've put together a four pack and what the experiment's all about... And it's up to you guys, do you smoke the Maduro first and then the Connecticut? Or do you smoke the Connecticut and then Maduro afterwards? Well, that's nothing amazing to me.

What's really cool is what they threw there in the twist is they said, "How about if you smoked both cigars at the same time?" You either take two drags of this and then two puffs of this, and you can see the differentiation and have that chocolate and vanilla flavor within your palette. So I thought that was a really, really cool experiment to play with. I had a lot of fun with it. I did both, having the Maduro and the Connecticut. It's a lot of fun. It was nothing mind blowing, but was it fun? Yes. I sat around amongst friends and we did it, we chit chatted and it was a great two hour session just getting together with our friends.
