Beginner Cigar Guide – Corojo Wrapped Cigars

29th Jun 2020

What's going on, everybody? This is Gerard with mardocigars.com. And this week's Mondays with Mardo's we're going to talk about Corojo wrapped cigars. But before we begin, I need you to click on that subscribe button. Also click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes of Mondays with Mardo's.

Cigar Number 1

In front of me, I'm salivating over a few cigars that we picked out that we do have that mardocigars.com and by no means of any kind of rating, we're just going to go over every single cigar. So cigar number one, we're going to talk about the Aladino Corojo Reserva. This has, of course, a Corojo wrapper. It's actually grown and made in Honduras under JRE Tobacco. This is the Robusto. It comes in three different sizes. Now the Corojo Reserva is more of their limited production cigars. This one is a Robusto. They have also in Toro. And the newest addition to their profile is the number four, which is like a Petite Robusto. So look for those on mardocigars.com. Again, Aladino Corojo Reserva, and now we're going to move on to the next cigar.

Cigar Number 2

So a second on the list, Guardian of the Farm made by Aganorsa. This was also a collaboration with Warped Cigars. This is made in Nicaragua, and of course it boasts a Corojo wrapper. This size, I think, shines above all the other sizes. This is the Apollo, it's like a Corona or a Lonsdale size, and it was also rated number eight cigar off the top 25 cigars from Cigar Aficionado. So look for Guardian of the Farm Apollo, and this is, again, a Corojo wrapped cigar made by Aganorsa in Nicaragua. One of my favorites.

Cigar Number 3

Number three is actually pretty cool and exciting. This is, again, Guardian of the Farm made by Aganorsa. However, this is Guardian of the Farm, the Nightwatch. Reason being it's a darker wrapper. So this Corojo is actually a Maduro. So this is their attempt to ferment the leaf a little bit longer, making it darker, giving it a bolder flavor. So look for it, Guardian of the Farm, Nightwatch, the newest addition to their portfolio. Again, very good job Aganorsa.

Cigar Number 4

So moving right along down the list to number four, we have this cigar. It is by Warped, it's called Flor Del Valle and the size of this cigar, we call it T he Ghost. That is a nickname that we follow through social media. So what's so cool about this cigar, not only does it have a Jalapa Corojo wrapper, also the binder is a Corojo, so that makes it pretty freaking unique. It is also made by Aganorsa under the Tapsa factory in Nicaragua. So look for this. We do have it at mardacigars.com and they do have a limited production. Warped is a truly boutique company that comes out with very cool stuff, some stuff out of Miami, and this stuff's coming out in Nicaragua under the Tapsa, which I fricken love. I Aganorsa leaf. So check these out.

Cigar Number 5

All right, so cigar number five. We're shifting gears here a little bit. We're going to talk about Don Pepin Garcia. This is known as the Cuban Classic Robusto size. Again, a Corojo wrapper. This cigar was actually rated 92 many times over, a truly classic, very Cubanesque cigar. It has the spice, little hint of vanilla. So please look for it on mardacigars.com. It would definitely please any pallet. Would it be that you're an enthusiast or a beginner, this cigar is right up there. It's a top 10 for me.

Cigar Number 6

Before we go, we're going to talk about the last cigar on the list is Camacho, a big brand within the cigar industry and it has the Corojo wrapper in a Robusto size, to be specific, and rated nine out of 10. That's a lot to say. So here's another cool thing about it. This cigar has a big correlation within the first cigar that we had mentioned on our list, the Aladino Corojo Reserva. These two cigars are made by the same person, Julio Eirora. However, Camacho was sold to Davidoff five years ago and Julio had a contract of non-compete for five years. Last year, that contract ended and he came out with his own brand, which is the Aladino Corojo Reserva.
