Cigar Guide - Rising Prices of Cuban Cigars

11th Jul 2022

Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo’s. I'm your host, Gerard. And, this week, we're going to talk about the increased prices of Cuban cigars and how that's going to impact your purchase.

All right. So, as if you guys may know, or may not know, that Cuban cigar prices throughout the world are tripling. Yes, that's right. A box of Cohiba's what would it cost you about $500, nowadays, getting ready to be about $1,300 for that box. So, what's going to happen is that non Cuban cigar brands are going to start supplying the demand of more of an affordable cigar. They started making that same cigar brand in the Dominican Republic-

And then, bringing it up here.

Then they bring it out here. But now, all the cigar brands have tripled in price. So, what was like $250 for a box of 25 cigars, is now $500 to $700. It's just because of inflation, right? So, all these people throughout the other parts of the world are going crazy, because they can't afford the new prices of Cuban cigars. Up until now, Cuban cigars have always been the number one product everybody seeks out. So, non Cuban cigars are now going to become popular, and they're going to start supplying the demand around the world. So, non Cuban cigar brands are going to be the next frontier, because these cigars are still affordable, people can buy them, and Cuban cigar sales, I think, are going to take a big major dip.

And, on top of that right now, a lot of the websites... So, there's a lot of websites that I can go to here, and I can buy a box, and they can smuggle in a box of Cuban cigars for me, because under certain weight, postal package's comes as a stamp package, not a courier style package. So, it goes to a different custom's protocol, and that's how we can sneak in a box or two. Well, no one's going to be buying these things anymore.

Right.

So, everybody's going to turn to non Cuban cigar brands. So, get ready to start seeing a lot of brand new cigar brands that you've never heard of. If you living outside of United States, you are going to get a big culture shock, because you're going to find some very good cigars that are non Cuban, even though they do hold a lot of Cuban tradition on how these things have been rolled. But, a lot of these Cuban descent, that have moved outside of Cuba, that have gone to Nicaragua, Honduras, or Dominican Republic, have carried on their tradition of generations. And, they're making cigars out of tobacco's grown in Nicaragua, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Glen's from the Dominican Republic. So, that's what's going to be happening. I'm very, very excited for that, because we are going to start seeing a lot of more brands coming out and being able to supply the demand worldwide.

So, other than that, I don't know what else to say. You guys already filmed everything.
