Twelve Years Later, La Flor Dominicana Opens a New Chapter for TAA Shops
The Chapter Series Is Back
For La Flor Dominicana fans, this one has been a long time coming. LFD has announced Chapter III as a 2026 exclusive for TAA retailers. It is the first new cigar in the Chapter series since Capítulo II in 2014. That is twelve years between chapters.
So this is not just another limited cigar. It is the return of a series that LFD collectors still talk about. Let us look at what Chapter III is, where it comes from, and what you should know before you go looking for one.

AT A GLANCE
- Chapter III is a 2026 exclusive for TAA retailers.
- It keeps the series' signature 6 1/2 x 58 Chisel shape.

Chapter III keeps the format that made the series famous: the 6 1/2 x 58 Chisel. It comes in boxes of 10 and sells for $20 a cigar, or $200 a box.
LFD offered 3,000 boxes to TAA retailers, which works out to 30,000 cigars. It is planned as a TAA exclusive for one year. That suggests it could reach a wider market after that, though nothing has been promised.
One honest gap. The full blend, meaning the wrapper, binder and filler, was not confirmed in the details we could verify. We are not going to guess. We will update this story once La Flor Dominicana makes it official.
A Quick History of the Chapter Series
The series began with Chapter One in 2013. It was a big moment for the company, because it was the first cigar blended by Antonio Gomez, the son of LFD founder Litto Gomez. Production was capped at 100,000 cigars, packed in 10,000 boxes of 10.
Capítulo II followed in 2014. It used the same 6 1/2 x 58 box-pressed Chisel shape and also came in boxes of 10, but with a different blend. Then the series went quiet for more than a decade.
That long gap is exactly why Chapter III matters. It brings back a name that many LFD smokers remember, and it keeps the look that tied the first two together.
Why the Chisel Shape Matters
The Chisel is one of the most recognizable shapes in cigars. It is box-pressed, and its head is flattened into a wedge, a bit like the tip of a carpenter's chisel. It is a La Flor Dominicana signature.
That flat head changes how the cigar sits in your mouth and how the smoke reaches your palate. Some smokers love it on sight. Others need a few tries. Either way, it is part of what makes the Chapter series feel special.
A quick tip if you are new to it. Cut the Chisel with a straight cut across the flat edge, and take only a little off. The wedge is meant to stay. A small, clean cut keeps the shape and the draw just right.
The box press also helps the cigar burn evenly and rest flat in an ashtray. Those small, practical touches are part of why LFD fans keep coming back to the shape.
How Chapter III Compares
All three chapters share the same size and shape, so the format is the common thread. The big differences are in the blend and the production run.
Chapter One was made in a much larger run of 100,000 cigars. Chapter III is far smaller, at 3,000 boxes for TAA shops. Since we cannot confirm the Chapter III blend yet, we will not claim it matches the strength or flavor of the first two. The shape is the same. The tobacco story is still to come.
LFD and the TAA: An Established Partnership
This is not LFD's first TAA release. The Tobacconists' Association of America is a group of independent retailers, and it gives members access to exclusive cigars. La Flor Dominicana has a long track record of making them.
The most recent was Apollonia, the 2025 TAA exclusive. It was a 6 1/2 x 44 box-pressed lonsdale with a Cameroon wrapper over Dominican tobacco, priced at $20 and limited to 1,500 boxes of 20. Chapter III continues that relationship.
Because it is a TAA release, it will only be found at participating TAA shops during its exclusive window. Not every cigar retailer will carry it.
Mardo's take
- Bringing back the Chapter series is a smart move. It speaks straight to longtime LFD collectors, and the Chisel shape gives it instant identity. For TAA shops, it is something different from the regular lineup, which is exactly what a TAA exclusive should be.
- Is it worth chasing? If you collected Chapter One or Capítulo II, yes, this is the obvious next piece. If you are newer to LFD, it is a great excuse to try the Chisel shape. Just remember that heritage gets a cigar noticed, but construction, flavor and burn decide whether it earns a second purchase.
- We have not smoked Chapter III, so there are no tasting notes or ratings from us. We are excited to see the full blend and to give it a fair, honest try once it reaches shelves.
