Beginner Cigar Guide | Can you Bring Cigars on a Plane?

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Legalty Cigar Packing Conclusion Introduction Welcome to another informative blog post about traveling with cigars. Many cigar enthusiasts wonder can you bring cigars on a plane?. Well, the short answer is yes, you can, but there are some important details you need to be aware of, including legal regulations and the best practices for ensuring your cigars arrive at your destination in perfect condition. The Legal Side of Cigar Travel Before we delve into the logistics of cigar packing for air travel, let's discuss the legal aspects involved: TSA Guidelines: If you're flying within the United States, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) permits passengers to carry cigars in both carry-on and checked baggage. However, there are rules regarding cigar cutters and lighters. To comply with TSA regulations, place these items in your checked luggage.  International Travel: For international travel, it's crucial to research and understand the customs and import regulations of your destination country. Some nations have strict rules regarding the importation of tobacco products, including cigars. Ignorance of these regulations can lead to confiscation or fines. Packing Your Cigars with Care Now that you're informed about the legalities, let's explore how to properly pack and protect your cigars during air travel. Airtight Cigar Boxes: Consider investing in a high-quality airtight cigar box, like those offered by Xikar Cigar Company. These boxes are specially designed to safeguard your cigars during flights. They feature a release valve to handle pressure changes and provide a watertight seal. This means your cigars will stay dry even if the box is submerged.  Cushioning for Your Cigars: Inside airtight boxes, you'll often find foam trays with inserts for your cigars. These trays are great for holding up to 60 cigars securely. However, if you need to carry more cigars, remove some inserts while ensuring there's a soft cushion at the bottom. Protecting your cigars with care is essential.  Ziploc Bags and Boveda Packs: If you prefer to keep cigars in your carry-on or backpack, use Ziploc bags with Boveda packs. Boveda packs help maintain the ideal humidity for cigars. Be cautious not to overpack your bag, as this can inadvertently damage your cigars. Use towels or magazines as protective cushioning. Boveda Packs Opting for Pelican Cases For travelers who require extensive storage space and top-tier protection, Pelican cases are the ultimate choice.  Pelican Case for Road Travel: Mid-sized Pelican cases are perfect for road trips and visits to various accounts. They offer an exceptional seal, ensuring your cigars remain in perfect condition. The built-in wheels and retractable handle simplify transportation.  Large Pelican Case for Air Travel: When transporting a substantial quantity of cigars by air, consider investing in the largest Pelican case available. Although its size may attract attention, it provides unmatched protection. The soft foam interior keeps your cigars cushioned, and Boveda packs maintain humidity, even in extreme temperatures. Conclusion In the world of cigar travel, protecting and preserving your cigars is of utmost importance. Investing in quality cigar storage solutions, such as airtight boxes and Pelican cases, ensures that your cigars will arrive at your destination in perfect condition. These tools offer peace of mind, whether you're soaring through the skies or hitting the open road. Before your next adventure, make sure your cigars are well-protected, allowing you to embark on your journey with confidence. How to Keep your Cigars Fresh without a Humidor

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
... roll up that Ziploc bag, take that cigar, put it in a second Ziploc bag. Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardos. I'm Gerard, and this week we are going to talk how to keep your cigars fresh without a humidor. That's pretty cool actually. But before I get going, I need you to click on subscribe the button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of great episode on Mondays with Mardos, or topics, whatever. You know what I'm saying? All right, so we're going to get right into it. How to keep your cigars fresh without a humidor. Let's just say you are out and about. You don't have your cigar case with you. You don't have anything with you, and somebody offers you a cigar. Maybe you're at a wedding or a vacation or somewhere and you just want to preserve that cigar because maybe it's a very special cigar and you can't always get them, and you don't want to smoke it right away. You want to wait for that special moment. One of the things that you can do is go to a store, get a Ziploc bag, and put a Boveda in it. Well, the point of this video is that you don't have access to a Boveda. You don't have access to humidor. So, what the heck can you do? One of the best things you can definitely do is go to any store. You can definitely buy a box of Ziploc bags. A whole container is only going to be a dollar or $2. Literally, if you go to a Dollar Tree store or 99 Cents store, a whole pack of them is about a buck 78. You can get that Ziploc bag and then you can put your cigar in it, and when you put the cigar in it, give it a couple rolls of flips, because the next section, what you're going to do is you're going to go get a paper towel. You're going to dampen that paper towel as best you can and squeeze out a lot of the water and throw that within a Ziploc bag, and then voila, you have something humid. Now, if you're too nervous to do that, because maybe the cigar did not come with a cellophane, even better idea, get the cigar, put it in a Ziploc bag, roll up that Ziploc bag, take that cigar, put it in a second Ziploc bag. Now put that wet damp paper towel inside the second Ziploc bag. So, now for sure, your cigar is going to be safe. It's not going to be touching anything that's wet, that's going to harm your cigars. So that will keep your cigar humid in the interim until you get to a humidor or you get to your house. You get the gist of what I'm saying. Now, I'm going to go even further. Let's say you have a bunch of cigars. You don't want to invest in a humidor because you don't smoke enough cigars and you just want to preserve these five or 10 cigars that you're given as a gift. You can definitely go on Amazon, you can go on our website. We sell Boveda packs. And then Boveda packs come in bags also. And these bags are medium size, large in size, and then they can withstand the shelf life of about a year. And these things are anywhere between eight to $14. Really doesn't hurt the bank. So, hopefully that helps you guys. But that's one of the tips and tricks that I can give you if you do not have a humidor and you are in desperate need of keeping that cigar humid so it doesn't go bad. Let me know in the comments if this was helpful. I will see you guys next week. Beginners Cigar Guide - When to use a Punch vs a Guillotine Cutter

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo. I'm Gerard and this is the beginner's guide on when to use a cigar punch versus a cigar guillotine cutter. But before I get going, I need you to click on that subscribe button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays with Mardo. All right. So I have been asked many, many times what is a better tool, the guillotine cutter or a punch. It does come down to preference; however, there are certain situations where you cannot use both, you have to use one or the other, and today's guidance is exactly what the intent is here. Traditionally, cigars are offered in Robusto, you have it in Churchill, the Toro, the Gordo, and you have the Corona. In these cigar sizes you can use either. You can use a punch. Right here I have a Robusto and you see the punch right here. I can just go ahead and punch the top of the cigar and voila. I can go ahead and get a draw and I just got a little bit of debris there, or I can use a cigar guillotine and voila, and therefore I got the purpose of the guillotine cut, or I got a punch, I can smoke the cigar now. Exceptions to the rule. A Figurado that has a 64 ring gauge at the foot and a 49 ring gauge at the cap with a shaggy little tail is not going to really work well with a punch. You're definitely going to need a guillotine cutter, so therefore you can snap off all of that, that you see right there, so therefore you can get a draw on a cigar and be able to smoke it. A punch was just not going to do the job. So in that case, the punch fails, the cutter wins. Now next, when it comes to a Lancero, very small ring gauge. Most Lanceros are under the 40 ring gauge, 38, 36, so therefore you're not going to be able to really use a punch. Now, could you force it? Absolutely. As you can see right here, it looks like it can fit, but now what you are presenting is the potential for it to crack right down the line right here and therefore you don't want to wedge a punch into it. So if you want to be a little bit more delicate, a little bit more precise, you definitely want to use a cutter in this situation so therefore you can make sure that when you are putting the punch, that you're not going to be able to crack the side of the cigar, so we don't want that to happen. So on a Lancero, I highly recommend a guillotine cut. So there's that example as well. Now, box-pressed cigars. For the longest, I've always used a punch on box-pressed cigars. I just like it because it's cleaner and it gives it this justification. Since it's box-pressed, the surface area is not as round. It's a little bit more square, so therefore it's going to be a little bit more of a flat surface, so therefore I can present the cutter perfectly just like that and I get a very, very good incision into the cigar. Now, I can also use a cutter, so therefore at this point, it's going to be preference. There you go. Voila. Now, bigger ring gauge cigars, I have learned that it's better to punch it. And when I say bigger ring gauge cigars, anything above a 60 ring gauge, like this right here. This is the El Septimo Double Shot and it's a 68 ring gauge. It's a fat little cigar. I can absolutely use a guillotine cutter; however, what's going to happen is when I cut this cigar the surface area is going to be very exposed and therefore I have to make sure that I have a very good seal around the cigar to get a very, very good draw. That can be somewhat tiring because I want to relax when I smoke a cigar. So I have learned on very big grain cigars, so therefore I don't have to commit so much, I can use a punch and voila, I got my little incision cut into the cigar. I can get a draw out of it. And if that doesn't work, I can always use a little bit bigger ring gauge punch, and I'll try that again. The reason why I'm doing this is because big ring gauge cigars, I have cut them and I have to really make sure my lip gets around the whole entire cigar so therefore I can get that good draw, that good vacuum seal to get a good draw from the cigar. And it gets a little bit tiring so therefore when I do a punch, I can just kind of do it off to the side, just like that. I don't have to commit to so much of my lips, so therefore I don't have to have that complete seal. So the punch in very big ring gauge cigars definitely is the win and that's where I'm going to use. Anyways, this will conclude our guidance to which cigar cutter you should use, a punch versus a guillotine. But let me know in the comments what is your preference. Other than that, I will see you guys next week. But remember to follow us on Instagram and like us on Facebook and remember to tell your friends to subscribe to our YouTube channel. Beginner Cigar Guide - Smoking your First Cigar

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays With Mardo. This week we're going to talk about how to choose the best cigar for a beginner. Basically, I'm going to give you some tips. But before I get going, I need you to click on the subscribe button. Click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays With Mardo. All right, so here I'm giving a sheet of paper on how to choose the best cigar. And actually I'm going to give you a tip for a beginner on how to choose your favorite or best cigar. Two tips I got for you. Number one, if you walk into a cigar shop, be very transparent. Ask the tobaconist or ask the employee, "Hey, I'm new. I'm a beginner, and I want you to point out a cigar for me." Most likely you're going to get a mild cigar. Tip number two, if you're shopping online, the best way to know what is a mild cigar. Most websites, whenever they feature a product, there's a little scale that tells you the strength of the cigar, mild to full or medium to full or mild all the way through full. So I think I hit the nail on the head on that one. So that's the scale you'll look for. So if you're a beginner, look for mild cigars and it'll give you the brands that they believe are applicable under that segment. Number two, the ring gauge of the cigar is going to make a big difference in the burn. And that means you don't want a cigar that's going to be very small ring gauge because it's going to burn a little hotter. It's going to be a bit of more of an intense draw, so therefore the smoke is going to be a little bit hotter. So if you're a mild cigar smoker and you're a beginner, if you go a little bit larger ring gauge, it's going to burn a little cooler. Now remember, anything 60 ring gauge up to 70 ring gauge is going to be very airy. It may feel a little diluted, so you may be wanting to have a little bit more flavor in your cigar. So if you stay anywhere between 52 to 54 ring gauge, it's going to burn a lot cooler for you. It's not going to turn you off. And therefore those are the two tips that I have for you to choose the best cigar, and that's for the beginners. Anyways, I hope that was good enough for you guys. Let me know in the comments if you have any tips for new commenters, new beginners, new cigar smokers, whatever I'm trying to say. Anyways, I'll see you guys next week. Beginner Cigar Guide - Does Ring Gauge Matter

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo's. I'm Gerard, and this week we're going to discuss does a ring gauge of a cigar really make a difference in the smoke and the flavor. But before I get going, I need you to click on the Subscribe button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes of Mondays with Mardo's. All right. Today we're going to do a little experiment, and we're going to see if the ring gauge of a cigar really makes a difference within the smoke and the flavor, obviously. Today we have put together here a Jake Wyatt Herbert Spencer, a full portfolio of every single size of their cigar that they make in the Madura wrapper. All right. The Jake Wyatt Herbert Spencer and the core line offers five different ring gauges. We have the 60-ring gauge, the 54-ring gauge known as the Toro, the 60 is known as the Gordo, the 52-ring gauge, which is a Belicoso, the 50-ring gauge, which is the Robusto, and then we have the 46-ring gauge, which is the Corona. For the sake of the video today, what I'm going to do is I'm going to start smoking the 60 and we're going to go all the way down to the extreme, to the 46 Corona, and see if there's a differentiation within the smoke and the flavor. This is going to be fun so stay tuned. All right. We're going to start off with the 60-ring gauge, the Gordo, and we have been educated in the cigar industry that the larger ring gauge, the more flavor you're going to get of the filler. Because, obviously, the ratio to the wrapper is much greater and, therefore, you're going to notice a little bit of a milder smoke. It's not going to be as impactful of a ring gauge that's much smaller. What we're going to do here is, obviously, toast this foot pretty good. Get it nice and cherry. Okay. Now we got the cigar nice and cherry. What I'm going to do now, after a couple puffs, I'm going to go ahead and light the Corona and see the big difference change, and it's going to be a lot of fun. In the 60 I'm noticing that it takes a little bit more effort to get a nice combustion of the tobaccos. I do feel a lot of air movement within the smoke. I'm generally not a 60-ring gauge smoker, so I do feel that it's a little bit more work than something smaller ring gauge. Right now we're going to go to the Corona size and see the big difference. All right. I'm toasting the foot of the Corona. Now, this is a 46-ring gauge. That's a 60. I'm thinking about the size difference. This is about a third smaller of a ring gauge, about a third, so that's a huge difference, and I'm really curious to see what the big difference is going to be, so let's check it out. Okay. So right off the bat the draw is a lot easier. The retrohale is a lot more intense. It burns a little bit hotter. However, in the 60-ring gauge, on my lips, it's a lot spicier. It is hard to differentiate in words what I'm experiencing here. Let me take a few more puffs. There's definitely a lot more air movement in here, even though it creates a lot of smoke. But the viscosity of the smoke is more dissipated, meaning the color. You can see that it's not a puffy gray cloud of smoke. Whereas in the Corona, you can see that the density is greater, and the flavor is definitely more amplified in the retrohale, and the burn is a lot, lot hotter. Wow. I could feel that down my throat. Now on a 6 x 60, there's a lot more air movement. This is truly an experiment, so it's hard to differentiate which one I want to go with. If I'm at a barbecue and I have a lot of time to kill and I want to smoke something, I don't want to have to really focus on the complexity of the cigar. I'm probably going to grab something with a much larger ring gauge because it gives you a lot of flavor, and it's not as intense of a hot draw so, therefore, I'll go with a 6 x 60. But if I want to truly gather the essence of a cigar, I like to go with a smaller ring gauge. It's a lot more complex. It's a lot hotter. There's more things going on within the heat of the smoke because the density is greater. Yeah, for me, this is much more of a focused cigar. In between these sizes, we have, obviously, the 54, the 52 and then the 50. For me, I would probably go with a 52 in general. Anyways, that's it for this week. Very short and sweet. Just want to experiment and let you guys see what the difference is. If you have never done this experiment, let me know in the comments if you have or if you haven't, and if you look forward to it. Anyways, I will see you guys next week. Remember to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook, and remember to tell your friends to join our YouTube channel. See you, guys.

Cigar Guide - Two in One Cigar Cutter Colibri SV-Cut Review

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo's. I'm Gerard, and today we're going to discuss my favorite cutter, which is the Colibri SV Cutter. Before I get going, I need you to click on subscribe button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays with Mardo's. The SV-Cut from Colibri has a price tag of $75. It's also a two-in-one, meaning that it's two different style of cutters in one. What do I like about the SV-Cutter? Also, it has a two year warranty. I like the feel of it. It's very heavy, very bold, very manly, and also the ergonomic feel of it. It is just very nice in my hand. Now, I feel that this is the deepest V-cutter out there on the market. It also does serve as a double cutter, which is going to be an S-straight guillotine cut in the back, which has a aperture is up to 70-ring gauge for cigar sizes. The depth is governed to three millimeters; therefore, you don't chop off too much of the cap of your cigar. Now, back to the V-cut, which is my favorite cut. You can basically regulate how much you can cut off of the cigar. Now, why is this such a big deal? Because if you have a Lancero... In this example, I'm going to use a RoMa Craft CroMagnon Aquitaine. This is the Atlatl, which is a limited edition, but this is a Lancero ring gauge cigar. If I were to insert this all the way through and use the V-cut it's going to cut off way too much, so what I'll do is as I'm pressing down I can go ahead and use my finger as a gauge of how far I want to put it in there. Then I can go ahead and press it down, and just like that I have a very nice V-cut. Now, in this sense, I didn't cut it enough, but I can always go back and try that again until I get that perfect depth. One more time, and perfect for a Lancero. That's nice. If I were to put it all the way in it's going to take off too much, but I usually smoke a larger ring gauge cigars. A minimum of a 50-ring gauge like this one. I'll just comfortably take that, put it all the way through, and then just like that I have a very nice V-cut. V-cuts are my favorite; however, if I do have a very sharp, pointy, torpedo-type of cigar, and I need a straight cut this has a hole all the way through it. As you can see, I can put my finger in there. I can insert that, and still get a straight cut. For $75 price tag I think this is one of the best cutters out there. Very good quality from Colibri. As I mentioned, it's a two year warranty on it. Let me hear in the comments what you guys think. Before I get going though, I want to go over the colors that we have. We have it in a black and the Chrome. The black on black is obviously very popular. We also have it in the gun metal. If you're a gun lover, gun metal. It rhymes, right? Then we also have the rose gold, a little bit of bling bling, and then the black handles at the top and the bottom. Then we're going to finish off with the chrome and the black for your car lovers, I guess. I'm just trying to give each one a thing. But go to mardocigars.com. We do have these available. That's basically it. Before I get going I need to remind you guys to subscribe to our YouTube channel, follow us on Instagram, and like us on Facebook. I'll see you guys next week. This is Gerard. Peace out.

Cigar Guide - Can You Recharge Your Boveda Packs

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo’s. I'm Gerard, and today we're going to talk about if we can recharge our Boveda packs. Well, we contacted Boveda and they sent out an industry-wide email explaining what we should be doing. But before I get going, I need you to click on that subscribe button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays with Mardo's. All right, so one of the biggest questions we get about Boveda is actually two-fold. We are asked if we can, and how do we recharge Boveda packs? So Boveda sent out an industry-wide email, I'm going to read it word-for-word. "Can I recharge Boveda?" "If you're looking for optimal protection, we recommend you do not recharge exhausted Boveda. Why? Well, primarily because the Boveda will no longer be precise. Using a rehydrated Boveda means you run the risk of doing damage to your cigars with mold or extreme temperature fluctuations. Moreover, the plea that Boveda can, on occasion, contain sharp crystallized salt residue that can penetrate the pack's inner membrane and cause leaks once hydrated. If that were to happen, it would damage your collection. As fellow cigar enthusiast, we'd like to see you get the most out of the bounty stored within your humidor, so please do not reuse Boveda once it's done its job." Well, what I say to that is let me do my own research, and I did just that. And as a matter of fact, I have come to admit I don't know what I'm doing. So I have here in front of me, three Boveda packs, all three of them are the four gram and 69% humidity. Here is one that has been depleted, it's hard as a rock, it's no longer of good use. So I took one and I rehydrated it by soaking it in water, and here it is. Fresh as new, right? Wrong. I'll tell you why. So when I picked this up, I was like, oh, the gel substance in there has been revived. It's nice, good to go. But I did look at it and I was like, you know what? It seems a little bit fluffier than usual. So I went ahead and I opened up a brand new one, and when I compared it, this one does have the fluffy residue in it, but nowhere near as much as a recharged or a rehydrated done in my own garage. So therefore, whatever Boveda was saying is pretty much right on. Well, that basically proves my theory wrong because this is already saturated. I do not know their true percentage of this, admitting, so therefore I'm going to have to rely on brand new ones. Yes, I don't want to spend my money on Boveda packs all the time, but here's the catch. What if it ruins all of my cigars and I have to re-buy all those cigars, and what if they're very, very hard to get and rare finds? Where am I going to find replacements? So let us know in the comments how you found this video useful or not useful, or if you have any opinions regarding this little experiment. But before I get going, I need you guys to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook, and remember to tell your friends to subscribe to our YouTube channel. I'll see you guys next week.

Choosing the Right Cigar: A Gentle Start Before you embark on your journey of selecting the perfect cigar for beginners, let's navigate through the intricate web of variables that influence your choice. Choosing a cigar is an art that involves understanding your preferences and matching them with the qualities of the cigar. Here's your roadmap to making the right choice: Understanding the Variables: Strength and Body: Cigars come in a range of strengths, from mild to full-bodied. Beginners often find milder cigars more approachable, as they offer a smoother and gentler introduction to the flavors. Consider your comfort level with tobacco strength and body as you explore your options. Wrapper Type: The wrapper contributes significantly to a cigar's flavor and appearance. Connecticut wrappers are known for their mild and creamy flavors, while Maduro wrappers offer richer, chocolatey notes. Consider what flavors resonate with you and explore cigars with corresponding wrappers. Flavor Profile: Cigars boast diverse flavor profiles, encompassing earthy, spicy, woody, and even sweet notes. As a beginner, you might lean towards cigars with well-balanced and approachable flavors. Opt for cigars that promise a harmonious blend of flavors that won't overwhelm your palate. Ring Gauge and Length: The ring gauge (diameter) and length of a cigar influence its smoking experience. Thicker cigars tend to burn longer and offer a cooler smoke, while thinner ones can intensify flavors. Longer cigars allow for more gradual flavor development. Consider how much time you have for your smoking session and your preference for flavor concentration. Our Top 3 Beginner-Friendly Cigar Recommendations: Jake Wyatt's Appendix II - The Entry Point: Jake Wyatt's Appendix II cigar is a masterpiece tailored for beginners seeking a smooth entrance into the cigar world. by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Welcome to Mardo cigars! Today we will discuss some important information about cigars. With so many kinds of cigars and different varieties of tobacco, it can be challenging to know where to start. If you're new to the cigar world, the right cigar choice can be frustrating. There are so many different types of cigars, flavors, and aromas. For newcomers, navigating the varietals and finding the correct one to suit your taste might be intimidating. In this article, we'll explore the world of Maduro cigars and offer some recommendations for beginners. We will explain what makes a  Maduro cigar unique, how to choose the right one for your tastes, and introduce you to some of the best Maduro cigars for beginners in today's market. We will now talk about Maduro cigars. We are often recommended for beginners because they are mild, smooth, and sweet. In this article, we will explore what makes a Maduro cigar unique, the benefits of smoking a Maduro cigar, and some of the best Maduro cigars for beginners. What is a Maduro Cigar? Maduro is a Spanish word that means ripe or matured. In the world of cigars, a Maduro cigar refers to the wrapper. It is a build of tobacco leaf which has aged for an extended period, resulting in a dark, rich color. The aging process creates a sweeter taste and aroma, making Maduro cigars popular among cigar enthusiasts. The longer the tobacco leaf is aged, the darker the wrapper and the sweeter the cigar tastes. What Makes a Maduro Cigar Unique? Maduro cigars are unique in both their appearance and flavor. The Maduro wrapper is often used to tame down a strong full-bodied blend, creating a smoother, more balanced smoking experience. But what sets Maduro cigars apart is their flavor profile. Maduro wrappers are known for their sweetness and richness, with notes of chocolate, espresso, and other complex flavors. Because the wrapper is the most visible and flavorful part of the cigar, the Maduro wrapper can greatly influence the taste of the cigar. Smoke a Maduro Cigar Maduro wraps are traditionally used to stabilize the taste of strong, full-bodied cigars. A Maduro cigar can have a medium to the full flavor profile, making it a perfect option for cigar beginners who are not used to the strong flavors that some cigars can have. In addition, the aging process of the Maduro wrapper creates a sweeter and smoother flavor profile, which makes them pleasant to smoke, making them an excellent choice for those not used to strong cigar flavors. Choosing the Right Maduro Cigar for Beginners If you're new to the world of cigars, you might be wondering how to choose the right Maduro cigar for your tastes. With so many different brands and varieties of options, it can be challenging to know where to start. One thing to keep in mind is that not all Maduro cigars are created equal. Some Maduro cigars are full-bodied and intense, while others are milder and more approachable. As a beginner, you may want to start with a Maduro cigar with a softer side to get a feel for the flavor profile. Another factor to consider is the size and shape of the cigar. Larger cigars tend to be milder than smaller ones because they have much more volume of filler tobacco. A toro or Churchill-sized Maduro cigar may be a good place to start, as they offer a balance of flavor and strength. Cigars 101 | Do Cigars Increase your Testosterone?

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Testosterone. Smoking cigars increase your testosterone. Yeah. Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo. I'm Gerard. And this week we have a big question. Do cigars increase your testosterone? Well, I'm no doctor, nor do I even want to go down that rabbit hole, but I did do a little quick research, and I guess in a case study of 3,000 men, there was a 15% increase of testosterone level in men when they smoke cigars. I don't know. That's pretty crazy. I don't think this video is going to give me any further. Oh my God. Wow.  Hi, you want come and say hello to me today? We have a little doggy guest. This is a cigar dog right here. What do you think? Do cigars increase my testosterone levels? Bentley's got testosterone. All right, there you have it, folks. I don't know. Does Schwarzenegger have increased testosterone level? I don't know. This is a really silly question. I think it's pretty interesting. It's pretty cool. Whatever. I don't need any more testosterone. I have so much testosterone I'm losing my hair. At least that's what they say. Remember to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook. I'll see you guys next week. Can you Re-humidify a Dried Out Cigar | Cigars 101

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
It's done. It's just like smoking cardboard. Hi. Welcome to another episode on Mondays with Mardos. I'm Gerard. This week, we're going to talk about can you re-humidify a dried out cigar? Ooh. But before I get going, I need you to click on the subscribe button. Click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Monday's with Mardos. As you saw my reaction of the irk about re-humidifying a dried out cigar, you can do whatever you want, you guys. But here's the deal. When a cigar dries out, not only does it get brittle and can it get just loose and unravel on you. What's happening is all the oils and all the flavors within that tobacco is drying out. So if you take a cigar that's been dried out and you re-humidify it, it's also going to cycle. It's just going to expand, and that's what's going to make it smoky because it's probably going to unravel on you, but it's going to just be a smoky cigar. I'm no expert. Maybe that dried out cigar will taste good, who knows? But most likely when a cigar is dried out, it's done. It's just like smoking cardboard. I've had dried out cigars and it just doesn't taste very good. They burn hot. They burn too fast because they're very dry. Sorry, man. That's why we have humidifiers. We have humidors. We have Bobana packs. We have all kinds of things that you need to do to keep your cigar stored very, very well. Very short subject, this week on Cigars 101, but when the cigar is dried out, you cannot re-humidify it. Now, if it's been out for like two or three days, yeah, you can save that cigar even maybe like a week or two at the most, depending how bad it is. You can re-humidify. Just put it back in a humidor and don't smoke it right away. Give it some time for it to acclimate back into the humid environment. Other than that, let me know in the comments if you have some magic powers to bring back cigars that are dried out. I'll be really happy to hear about it. Follow us on Instagram. Like us on Facebook. Beginner Cigars Guide | Do you get Buzzed from Cigars?

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Yeah, sometimes I wake up feeling like Popeye and I just want to smoke like two cigars. Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardos. I'm Gerard. This week in the Beginner's Cigar Guide we're going to talk about if I get buzzed from cigars. That's a pretty good question. But before I get going, I need you to click our subscribe button. Click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays with Mardos. So that is a very good question. Do I get buzzed from cigars? That is one thing that I do not like about cigars or any kind of smoking is when I get a full on nicotine buzz. So you're asking, "Then, Gerard, why are you smoking cigars if you don't like the buzz?" I don't always get a buzz from cigars. Only about 10% of the time do I ever feel a buzz from cigars, and how does that happen? I don't know why it happens. I'm not a doctor, but sometimes I smoke a cigar and I can feel like it's really kicking my butt with the nicotine buzz and it doesn't feel very good. One of the things that I can do to remedy that feeling is get something that is loaded with sugar. Replacing the sugar within my bloodstream will help with the nausea and that buzzed feeling. However, to make sure that I don't get fully buzzed, I do whatever I can to smoke a cigar a little bit slower than usual. So you want to kind of puff on a cigar, you don't want to inhale it. If you inhale it, you're going to get pretty sick because there's definitely a lot of nicotine content within the tobacco. Ammonia is another byproduct of the tobacco, and that's why we age cigars, to remove the ammonia, because that is what can also get you nauseated and make you very, very sick. What do I do not to get buzzed from cigars? I make sure that I've had at least something to eat, and more than anything kind of sounds weird, but I know my body, right? Sometimes I wake up and then my friends, if we're on vacation, they're already ready to have a smoke in the morning. In the morning, I like a cup of coffee, so I already have a little bit of caffeine on board, and if I'm going to have a cigar on top of that with the nicotine, I'm not going to be feeling very well. Going to get really green, pale, low blood pressure. I'm going to need to lay down. So in the mornings, I just don't like a cigar. Have I had the craving in mornings to have a cigar? Yeah, sometimes I wake up feeling like Popeye and I just want to smoke two cigars in a row. I'm totally fine. It's weird. But for the most part, my body is a very good sense of how I'm going to feel if I smoke a cigar. If I'm not [inaudible 00:02:34], it's probably not a good idea, but the tips that I do. Smoke slow, have something on board, like some kind of food. I have water and if you feel like, yeah, you might get nauseated, but you do want to enjoy a cigar, definitely have a drink with a lot of sugar in it. Other than that, let me know in the comments, what do you do if you get buzzed from a cigar? If you like that nicotine buzz. Some guys really like it. I don't. I'll see you guys next week. Remember to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook, and remember to tell your friends to show up to our YouTube channel. See you guys.

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Best Mild Cigars for Beginners│Mardo Cigars What's up everybody. This is Neil with Mardo Cigars and you're watching Mondays with Mardo's. I got a question for everybody out there. Do you ever walk into a humidor and you have absolutely no idea what cigar to pick? Well, that's exactly what this video is all about. Watch until the end, I'm going to give you five great cigars that you guys just have to try. We are so glad you landed on our channel. We talk about everything cigars. So you guys got to make sure you subscribe, hit the bell to be notified because we come out with new videos every Monday. Five Cigars that will not Disappoint So if you're paralyzed when you walk into a humidor you're now going to have five go-to mild cigars that will not disappoint. We've been at this for over 30 years throughout our family. We've traveled the world, blended cigars, been selling cigars, been obsessed with the cigar industry for decades. So now you guys get to take advantage of our experience and put it to use in your own lives. The Cigars So number one on this list is the Jake Wyatt Appendix II. Now take a look at this thing. The craftsmanship and the artistry is off the charts. The accents they put on this thing are unbelievable. It's an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and it's unbelievably creamy, smooth, and buttery from start to finish. Now, once I got into the first third of this thing, oh my gosh, I could not believe how good this thing was. Now, one thing I cannot stand in an Ecuadorian Connecticut or a mild shaded cigar is when you really have that hay-like grassy vibe when you're smoking these cigars. So a lot of these guys really have learned their craft and learned how to really blend a creamy, buttery smooth stick that just doesn't disappoint. And this sucker is right at the top of the list. So check this thing out. I know it's going to be released at the end of August, first couple weeks in September, and they've been working on it for months. So this is definitely on this list and I can't wait for you guys to give it a try. So number two on the list is the Cubo Claro by Dapper Cigars. The band on this thing is exquisite. It's beautiful. But more importantly than that is the flavors of this cigar. It's off the charts. Now let me tell you a little bit of the backstory. So we were just out at the 2019 IPCPR show in Las Vegas and we were introduced to Dapper Cigars through a buddy of ours and we got to meet the owner. His name is Ian Reith and what a solid dude this guy is. What an unbelievable gentleman and informative like you couldn't imagine. He is absolutely obsessed with the cigar space, loves making quality cigars and is one of the humblest guys you'd ever want to come across. He was giving credit to all the people that helped him to get him to where he was at. And then he gave us samples of his cigars and this stick right here became one of my instant favorites. Now it's a mild to medium cigar. It's got that Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and the flavor on this thing is unbelievable. So it's got that really earth nutty vibe. The retro brings that back down through and you get all of that coming back down through your nose. That is just something you have to try. So the Cubo Claro by Dapper Cigars is on the top of this list and guys like this is who I root for that run a great company and are solid people. And on top of it he makes a hell of a great cigar. So make sure you give it a shot. So third on this list is by Dunbarton the Sobremesa Brulee. Now this sucker is absolutely beautiful. It's a Steve Socko special. And as you know, he generally makes medium to full bodied sticks and he came out for all of us that love this lighter shaded stuff and he made us all a mild stick called the Brulee. Now the Brulee is the perfect name for this. So we were sampling it yesterday and oh my goodness. It is exactly, well, to explain it as brulee is perfect. It tastes like creme brulee. It's got that touch of toastiness on the end coupled with the very sweet vibes coming through. It's got that creaminess to it and again from start to finish, you don't want to put this sucker down. It does not have that grass hay like vibe that I was telling you about. And it's something that will be enjoyed for sure. Now if you can find this, it's a very rare find and they don't stay on the shelves for very long. But his first batch just came out. We definitely have them and you got to check them out for sure. More will be coming but definitely makes this list for sure. Something you definitely got to try. Now fourth on this list is a cigar called Back2Back, it's made by Davidoff. Now look at the foot on this thing. Now a couple of these guys were street artists out of New York City and came on board with Davidoff to do some revamping on some of the Zino Platinum lines. And Davidoff gave them their own line and it's called Back2Back by URNY which is you are New York. The boxes on these things are a instant collectible. Everyone's got to check them out. But more importantly than that is this stick. It comes in three sizes, the 5" x 50, the 6" x 60 like this one right here, and the big guy, the 7" x 70. I tried this stick and again I could not believe how good it was. But more importantly than that, it does not break the bank, which is shocking for a Davidoff made stick. Generally they're a little bit higher on the price point, but this thing is right in the wheelhouse for all of us that love to enjoy a good cigar for a great price. So this is something you've got to try. It's mild throughout. It's definitely creamy. Got that buttery vibe like Davidoffs genuinely do and it's a mild little over mild type stick. Enjoy this from start to finish and really check the artistry out on these guys. It's very cool. Love to support companies like this and especially when the price point is just where it needs to be. So Back2Back made this list, make sure you guys enjoy it. And number five on this list is by Casdagli cigars and it's called the Club Mareva. And this thing right here is as smooth as one can imagine. Now Club Mareva stands for corona or means corona in Spanish, the word Mareva, and they only comes in corona sizes. Now their master blender retired in the mid nineties and they moved everything over with Hendrik Kelner Jr. And now he's been blending Bespoke slash Casdagli cigars now for quite some time and they do not disappoint. So we smoked this thing and oh my goodness, it was just unbelievable from start to finish. It's something you guys got to definitely try. It's got that earthy, creamy vibe throughout and you do not want to put this thing down. It definitely carries the kind of notes that you come to know for a Hendrik Kelner type stick and you guys will definitely love it. So stay tuned for this one as well. What is cigar tar and how to avoid it? | Cigar Guide

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
All About Cigar Tar Hi. Welcome to another episode of  Mondays with Mardo's. I'm Gerard, and this week we will talk about why cigars get tar in, what it is, and how to avoid it. But before I get going. Don't forget to click on that subscribe button. Click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays with Mardo's, As presented topic for me to shed some light on it has happened to me before. As you're smoking your cigar, you'll notice a little bit of ooze coming out of the cigar. That's what we call  tar. At least, that's what we label it. So I did some research on the internet because I am no expert. I'm always learning. And from what I gathered, it could be a little bit of sap on the stem of the cigar leaf. Sometimes it happens, and it has a bad taste. So one of the ways to avoid, for me in the past, I don't remember what I did. Maybe I have  cut the cigar a shorter, but it's happened to me seldom. Remember always to research But what I did when researching on the internet is the advice to cut the cigar cap a little bit more and see if there's less tar there, and also let the cigar rest a little bit to cool down. So, therefore, the tar cools down. And then relight it and then try your chances again. Now, if it continues, unfortunately, if you don't want to put up with that flavor in your mouth anymore, I can understand that. It is a natural product. Even though they're two apples right next to each other, another apple from the same branch or the same stem, one can be sweeter than the other. One is better than the other. It is what it is, you guys. That stinks, so you'll have to discard this cigar. What to do if it happends to you? If your tobacconist is very generous, he may be able to exchange the cigar for you. If you are at my shop and my cigar lounge and that happened to you, if I like you, I'll exchange it. If I don't, I don't know. I would exchange a cigar for you guys. It's not very enjoyable if it's a very expensive cigar. I'll have to take it up with the manufacturer. Most likely, they will always reimburse us. Let me know in the comments if you've had this happen. Most likely, one of you has had this. And let me know how you dealt with it. Other than that, I'll see you guys next week. Remember to follow us on Instagram and like us on Facebook. We recommend our Mardo Cigars Blog, where you will find incredible and useful information about the cigar industry. What do Cigars Taste Like Beginner Cigars Guide

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
<p>Hi, welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardos. I'm Gerard. This week, we're going to talk about what do cigars taste like? But before I get going, I need you to click on that subscribe button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes on Mondays with Mardos.</p><p>Here is a topic I've been given. What do cigars taste like? Well, obviously they're going to taste like smoke. It is a smoking thing that you're going to do. So basically, this is what it comes down to, you guys. It's very easy for me to use the concept of coffee. No matter how floral a coffee tastes like, no matter how chocolatey coffee is, no matter how much caramel it has, it doesn't matter if it's Christmas blend or Red Riding Hood blend, it's always going to have that base of coffee flavor. So if you do not like coffee, doesn't matter if I say it tastes like peaches and strawberries, it's going to have that coffee taste. Same thing with wine. A lot of people say some wine is oaky, some wines is citrusy. And when it comes to cigars, they're definitely going to have that flavor of smoke.</p><p>But just like whatever I describe, cigars can tend to have a lot of hints and flavors are very, very [inaudible 00:01:12] to us cigar smokers. Hints of chocolate, coffee, caramel. And you're going to have definitely the white pepper and then black pepper always as a base tone of the flavors when it comes to cigars. Now, you have mild cigars and then you have medium and then you have full body. Body does not equate strength. You can have a cigar that is pretty diluted, low in body, meaning the flavors aren't really all there. It's just all puff of cloud of smoke. Doesn't have anything like cream or anything chocolate in there, but the nicotine content can be very high because it was totally under fermented and can really make you sick.</p><p>When it comes to body, that means the content of smoke output. Does the cigar give you plenty mouthful of smoke? That's going to give you the ability to categorize what kind of body it falls into. And then when it comes to flavor, when you smoke the cigar, is it very diluted? Does it not really leave a lot of flavor in your mouth? That's going to be a very mild in flavor. So most cigar smokers always want full flavor. It doesn't matter if it's low in nicotine, it doesn't matter if it's a mild in strength, flavor is what we're always chasing. And then when it comes to the strength of the cigar, a lot of people like mild to medium strength. They don't want that nicotine buzz in a very full, full strength cigar. And the reason why cigars that are full strength is going to have a lot of nicotine in it is because they're under fermented.</p><p>Ammonia is a byproduct of the tobacco. So whenever we are fermenting the tobacco, we're trying to get rid of the ammonia. And as you get rid of that, you're also getting rid of the nicotine and the strength of the cigar. So what do they taste like? Definitely it tastes like smoke, but like I said, there's a lot of hints and notes. So you can look at some publications out there like halfwheel.com, Cigar Coop, you can go also on Blind Man's Puff. They do a lot of cigar ratings and they also write down the notes. Also, one more thing before I get going, the way we judge cigars when it comes to flavors, within thirds. We go first, second, and last third of the cigar, see if there's any change within it. Let me know in the comments what you think your cigars taste like, or however you want to chime in on this topic. But before I get going, remember to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook, and tell your friends to subscribe to our YouTube channel. by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardo's. I'm Gerard. And this week, we're going to talk about everything I think I know about cigar wrappers. We're going to try to hit types, flavors, most common, most popular. They say just stick onto one type or explore as a beginner. I don't know what that means, but what we're going to do is we're going to talk about what I think I know about cigar wrappers. One of the things that I have learned is that Ecuador... I was looking at this little dried up leaf I have here, but before I even get to this little prop here, I heard the country of Ecuador focuses a lot on making cigar wrappers. There's a big difference between growing cigar tobacco for wrapper use, and then you have your filler and your binder. When it comes to wrapper use, it's a lot more of a delicate process. You need to caress it, sing to it, dance around it and play all kinds of beautiful music. Just kidding. But it is a lot more of a delicate process. One of the ways to identify if a leaf is going to be used for wrapper or not, is when you look at the leaf as a whole, you look at the distance between the veins. So, for instance, this one, the veins are maybe barely about an inch apart. And that tells me that the distance is not great enough to be used as a wrapper. Reason being is because if I were to use this leaf as a wrapper, it's going to have too much veins on it, so therefore it's not going to be as pliable, it's not going to be as pretty, and it's just not meant to be used as a wrapper. So, when I look at a leaf and if I see the distance between the veins' pretty distant, that lets me know that this leaf is used as a wrapper. And also the whole makeup of the leaf is going to be just very pretty. It's going to be beautiful. Hopefully, the contrast of the leaf color is going to be very continuous. It's going to be fluid. It's going to have all one shade. So, that's going to be a huge indicator of that being a cigar leaf used for wrapper. Now, then you have different types of wrappers. You have Habano, you have Sumatra, you have Connecticut Broadleaf, then you have Maduro. I'm just going to stick to Maduro. A Maduro leaf is going to be something that's going to be much darker. Naturally, Maduro Leafs used for wrapper is going to be very blotchy. The reason why it's getting blotchy is because that leaf is being aged. And when it's being aged, it's going to be introduced to a lot of time. And due to time, it's going to have a breakdown process. When things break down, it's a natural process, so therefore we're not really sure what's going to be uniform and not when it comes to color contrast. So, as it gets darker, just like skin pigmentation, some area's going to be darker and some area's going to be lighter. So, that is one indicator that you're going to see when a Maduro is naturally used and not painted on a cigar, is that it's in its natural state. It's not being altered with, they're not using food grade paint to make the Maduro wrapper look a lot more beautiful. Now, what is the purpose of a Maduro wrapper and what does it do? The starch is turning into a sugar, so as darker the Maduro wrapper is getting, the more ability of the sweetness to be pronounced because the starch is being processed into sugar. And you want to use this very sweet Maduro wrapper on a cigar blend that's very strong, so you can tame it down and bring it down a notch a little bit to present some sweetness to it. So, that is what I know up to this point in my career about cigar wrapper leaves. Other than that, I'll see you guys next week. Remember to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook. Beginner Cigar - Best Drink to Pair with a Cigar

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Hi, and welcome to another episode of Mondays with Mardos. I'm Gerard and this week we're going to talk about soda pairings with your cigar. But before I get going, I need you to click on that subscribe button, click on the bell to be notified every single week of new episodes of Mondays with Mardos. All right. So this week we're not talking about pairing cigars with soft drinks. Now, for many, many years, I always thought this was blasphemous. The only thing you're supposed to drink with your cigar is water, covering water with some lemon or any kind of spirit. And you're supposed to sip on spirits, not really get drunk. But have I done it before? Yes, of course, I'll admit it. But that's fast forward, whole new different generation. A lot of things are changing in this cigar industry. And now, I will drink a soft drink with my cigar. One of the reasons why I do it now that I've been educated is that nicotine, just like alcohol, sears away the sugar in your bloodstream. And that can cause drunkness, if you have spirits as well as the nausea. Within cigars, when you have a lot of nicotine with your system and it sears the sugar within your bloodstream, you're going to get nauseated. So in order to get a little bit recovery, you definitely want to get some sugar. I see guys that carry packets of sugar. These guys are the old guys that walk around with canes and they can afford to be weird and put sugar packets in their pocket. But for us cool guys, we're going to drink soft drinks. So I want something pretty heavy loaded. I don't want anything diet. I want real sugar in there. And we have three different choices here. My number one choice, if I could, I love bottled drinks, and this is glass. So not every single liquor store or convenience store is going to have root beer, let alone be it nice and chill. Like this one is sweating and it's beautiful. Root beer has a load of sugar in it, and it's just... It feels like a beer, and I love the flavor. Number two would be my choice will be Dr. Pepper. I just really, really liked Dr. Pepper. I loved that syrupy flavor and I know it's reliable and I can find it almost at any convenience store. Coca-Cola or Coke Vanilla is another choice that has a lot of good flavors in there. It has the load of sugar as well. The only downfall is I cannot find Coke Vanilla, every single convenience store within every single street corner. So Dr. Pepper is always going to be my number one, because I know I can find it everywhere, but if I do find a chilled nice cold bottle of root beer, that would be my number one go-to. Anyway, that is why I choose soft drinks, because if I'm going to smoke multiple cigars that night or that evening, or that event, I'm going to definitely need some sugar. So that's why I go for these choices. Anyways, let me know what you think of my choices within the comments, or let us know what like to drink as a soft drink to relieve your nausea whenever you're smoking cigar. Other than that, I'll see you guys next week, but remember to follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel. See you guys.

How to Use Boveda Packs for Humidity | Mastering Cigar Care

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
Boveda Variations Accessories Boveda Packs Conclusion Introduction Cigar enthusiasts understand the paramount importance of maintaining the perfect humidity levels for their prized smokes. In the world of cigar care, Boveda has emerged as a game-changer, providing a precise solution to achieve optimal humidity conditions. As a passionate cigar aficionado and customer of mardocigars.com, I had the privilege of delving into the realm of Boveda products through an insightful conversation with Rob Gagner from Boveda. In this article, I'll share my firsthand experience and key takeaways from the conversation, shedding light on the diverse range of Boveda humidity products and accessories that contribute to an enhanced cigar experience. The Science Behind Boveda's Humidity Variations   Rob Gagner outlined the significance of Boveda's varying humidity percentages. He explained that different humidity levels serve distinct purposes in cigar storage:  85% (Seasoning): Before filling your humidor with cigars, it's essential to "season" the humidor's interior. Place an 85% Boveda pack inside for about two weeks. This process allows the wood to absorb moisture slowly and properly, minimizing rapid evaporation when you introduce the rest of your Boveda packs. 65-75% (Long-Term Storage): These Boveda packs are tailored for extended cigar storage. They are designed to last approximately three months and are crafted to accommodate different wood types and cigar characteristics. Matching the humidity level of the pack to your humidor's environment maintains consistency and optimal aging. 69% (Airtight Containers): When using airtight containers like travel humidors or acrylic setups, a 69% Boveda pack ensures cigars remain well-preserved, maintaining their flavors and characteristics without any compromise. 72% (Wood Humidors): A fundamental baseline humidity level for wood humidors. However, consider environmental factors – if you're in a drier climate, you might opt for a higher humidity level. High Altitude and Dry Climates: In areas with high altitudes or arid conditions, a 75% humidity level helps counteract the rapid moisture loss that can occur. Boveda Products Accessories for Elevated Cigar Care Boveda's commitment to innovation is evident in their range of accessories designed to complement their humidity packs. The conversation touched on these minimalist yet functional products:  Stacked Holders: For humidors with unique shapes, the stacked holder is a space-efficient solution that can accommodate two Boveda packs. This maximizes the utility of your humidor's interior. Metal Backing with Magnet: Designed for those with limited space in their humidor's lid, this accessory suspends Boveda packs, ensuring they don't come into direct contact with your cigars while maintaining optimal humidity. Understanding Boveda Pack Sizes Different cigar storage solutions require distinct Boveda pack sizes to maintain precise humidity. Rob clarified the pack sizes and their recommended usage: 8 Gram: If you're often on the go or have a small bag, the 8-gram pack is perfect for travel humidors. It's recommended for humidors that can hold between 4 to 10 cigars. 60 Gram: Designed for wood humidors and travel setups. To determine how many 60-gram packs you need, allocate one pack for every 25 total cigars your humidor can accommodate. 320 Gram: For larger storage solutions like wineadors or cooler doors, the 320-gram packs are your go-to. It's a good rule of thumb to have one pack for every cubic foot of space in your storage container. About Boveda Sizes Efficiency and Replacement Timing Boveda packs operate on a two-way system, releasing and absorbing moisture to maintain optimal humidity. The packs typically last between two to four months based on usage. Monitoring the pack's rigidity is a clear indicator of its life cycle: replace it when it becomes rock hard. Conclusion: As you embark on your cigar journey, remember that maintaining optimal humidity is a cornerstone of ensuring your cigars remain a source of pleasure. Armed with insights from these three crucial steps, you're well-equipped to create an exceptional cigar experience. Keep in mind, enjoying cigars is an art; relish the process, immerse yourself in the flavors, and engage with fellow enthusiasts. So go ahead, light up, and relish every moment – welcome to the captivating world of cigars! For more cigar wisdom, be sure to join us every Monday on our YouTube channel for "Mondays with Mardo." Cigar Review | Sinistro Last Cowboy LE 2018

by Gerard Abajian on Mar 30 2026
What's up everybody? This is Gerard with Mardo Cigars and you are watching Mondays with Mardo's. All right guys, here we are, Sinistro Last Cowboy Limited Edition a Maduro 2018. This cigar is still going off the fricking shelves. It's popular. People post pictures of it every single where because look at the package. It is so freaking cool. I'm getting into the details of what this thing is all about and where you can get it and how you can get a little special price on this cigar for you guys. This is Gerard. Stay tuned and we're going to get right into it. Come Join Us Before we get going and diving right into this, I want to ask you guys to please subscribe to our channel called Mardo Cigars and hit that bell to be notified every single week of Mondays with Mardo's. Owner of Sinistro, James Agopian, and Coleman and myself, obviously also my partner Neil, we've been selling Sinistro quite well and we've been their top seller throughout the whole entire country. These guys that are boutique to the T. We became very good friends and we were talking about the Lase Cowboy Maduro. What happened after a round table discussion, having some food and drinks, we discussed that we want to do something exclusive for Mardo Cigars only, so that took us on an airplane ride all the way down to the Dominican Republic to the oldest factory of La Aurora. We sat down as soon as we landed with master blender Manuel Inoa and we discussed the size that we wanted to make. This is a 6 and a half by 56. It's a box of 14 cigars. Now this cigar is wrapped with a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro. It has a San Andreas binder and a ligero of piloto cubano so you guys can see that it's going to have a lot of spice, a lot of good bold flavors. Man, was it fricking exciting making a cigar. It took us from highs and lows of the struggles of putting something together, but the end product is you can see it right here at this table, it is done. It's ready. We've done multiple events. People are still posting pictures of this cigar, so that's why I'm so excited. I'll introduce to you guys this exclusive. I'm going to getting a little bit deeper into it. At the end of the video, I promise you guys, I'm going to give you a very nice little special deal on this limited edition. This was rolled, by the way, in March 2018 so we're well past the year mark, very well aged, very good cigar. I mean words are not going to express what this means to me. Other than that, you need to stay tuned and I'm going to get right into it with a little light and tell you what I think. Cut and Light it Up Let's go right into cutting this bad boy. I'm going to take out the red paper. The reason of that red paper is this thing actually mimics a dynamite stick, so we wanted to stay with the Western theme of the last cowboy and this being a Maduro, it fits dynamite stick very well. Now this fuse link right here actually will light all the way to the foot of this cigar. I could just show you guys, it kind of mimics a fuse, but with my luck in doing a review, it probably won't do that. I'm not going to bore you guys, but as you can see it just keeps going and going and going, but what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to nick this off for the review, but as you can see as I'm talking, it's already gone a little bit further. Coleman, one of the owners, actually did the test and he sat there and let it burn all the way down to the wick just like a real dynamite stick, which was pretty darn cool. We talked about that it's a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, which is one of the most popular wrappers in the industry right now, a San Andreas binder, which gives you that Maduro thick pepper, lots of chocolate hints, and then that piloto cubano ligero, which I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with, the piloto cubano ligero is one of the most popular ligeros down in the Dominican Republic. I'm trying to get a nice red cherry on it. We want to make sure that we get the whole entire surface of the cigar nice and hot. I can't wait til I take my first puff, you guys. Right off the bat, very good draw. This cigar is very dense and you can definitely taste the wholesomeness of the tobacco in there. There's a lot of pepper. However, the smoothness has definitely laid itself in the foundation of the cigar because this thing is well past its year mark of aging. I'm going to sit here, I'm going to enjoy this and give you guys every third of a review and we'll go from there. Stay tuned. First Third Not a lot of words, guys. I'm definitely relishing this. As you can see for the review, I'm letting it hold its ash pretty good, but I'm going to get into it so I'm going to ash this right now. Let's see, ooh, nice and solid ash. Okay, so this is definitely worthy, you guys. Off the first third, when I started smoking the cigar at first, the pepper was abundant. Retrohaling it, I got a lot of tingling. It was definitely pepper bomb, but as it got a little bit deeper, this thing has smoothened out unbelievably. It tastes a lot different than the other Last Cowboy Maduros. Now this cigar, Last Cowboy Maduro, comes in different sizes. You have the Churchill, Petite Belicoso, you've got the Toro, you've got the Corona and I believe also they have that in the Presidente if I'm not mistaken, but this is the 6 and a half by 56 ring gauge exclusive to Mardo Cigars only. I'm going to take another drag, very, very smooth. The biggest hint that I'm getting out of this cigar right now is salted caramel. Yes, I'm not kidding. You guys know, I always look for the tobacco of flavors. I'm like into the Cameroon, if I taste San Andreas I'll say it, if I taste like Connecticut Broadleaf I'll say it, but to actually give you like food flavors and hints, I'm the worst, but this cigar is blasting me with like salted caramel that is undeniable. I'm going to sit here and hit it to the second third and see if this gets any smoother or if it changes any flavor or if it keeps its complexity the way it is. Very dense cigar, even though it's heated, meaning that I've been smoking and it gets hot. It's not getting spongy. It's still very well intact. Let's get into the second third, let you guys know what's going on. Second Third Damn. All right, everybody. We're in the second third of the smoke and very consistent. The salted caramel flavors are still there. I did get a little hint of hazelnut. However, a new flavor that's been more apparent than anything else is the white pepper. It's mellowed itself out quite a bit. It's very smooth. Yeah, no tingling through the retrohale, a very smooth cigar. Like I said, salted caramel is still the majority of the flavor that I'm noticing, a little bit of white pepper as well. Now I'm going to dig into the last third. One of the things that I've noticed in this cigar is two things. It stays very smooth, which I like. Biggest pet peeve of mine is when a cigar gets to this point, a lot of times it turns on you. It gets very hot and this has not gotten hot. It's still a very nice draw and it hasn't turned. If anything it's getting a lot better and it's very smooth. Stay tuned for the last third of this cigar and we'll let you guys know what I think. Final Third We're at the last third of it and as I mentioned, this cigar does not get hot, which is the beauty about it. I can still hold it in my fingers. Is it a poker worthy? Absolutely, I'll take this all the way down as far as I can. Salted caramel is the abundant flavor in this thing, little bit of white pepper in there, as I mentioned that some hazelnut hints, definitely box worthy. Still creating a lot of smoke. Guys, as I wrap this up, Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, San Andreas binder and piloto cubano is the ligero that makes up 80% of this filler. Now, this is 6 and a half by 56. Smoke time to me took me about an hour, but you can definitely baby it for about an hour and a half. It's a cigar that's very well rounded and definitely satisfies the palette. Something for you Okay guys, so let's talk about the packaging. This box is a box of 14 cigars. It comes in two bundles of seven that is mimicking a TNT dynamite. We have a special that's going to be running to the end of the month, which will get you 20% off. That coupon code is SinistroLE20. I'll repeat it again, coupon code SinistroLE20. You want to put that code in your checkout box. This is only a 500 box production. It's limited. I just want to say that definitely medium to full body. This is Gerard. I'm signing out with Mondays with Mardo's. Thank you for watching.
